Hi folks, my name is Craig and I’ll be your guide on this journey.

I was trained as an electrical engineer and worked with factory automation.

This required long hours and extensive time out of town doing installations of the equipment that we created.

Not a great work/life balance.

In 2010 I discovered a large group of entrepreneurs learning online marketing through a site called Wealthy Affiliate.

So, I spent several years learning the ins and outs of online marketing while holding down a rather stringent 9-5 job (actually more like a 7-7 job).

How Was I Able To Finally Walk Away?

 Thankfully, there was a light at the end of the tunnel.  In 2012, I left this work behind and opened my own website service helping business to get their businesses online and pulling in customers through their web presence.  This is an absolute necessity in today’s environment of online companies competing for customer’s eyeballs.

Since more and more people go online every day to find goods and services in their local areas, it’s an absolute necessity for almost every business to have a solid online presence.

Affiliate Marketing

 While I was helping other businesses, I created several of my own affiliate marketing sites. Wealthy Affiliate primarily teaches how to create and market your site while monetizing using the affiliate marketing model.

For those of you not familiar with this business model, let me sum it up for you.

Basically, your site reviews products that are available through manufacturers, retail outlets and product sellers (such as Amazon).

Often, you have many products that people want more information about in your home already.

That new coffee pot in the kitchen, the tablet you’re reading this post on, or even the new air freshener in your car.

People want to hear your opinion about these products, and guess what…

…you can make money when they read your thoughts if you know how to successfully use affiliate marketing.

That’s what Wealthy Affiliate really focuses on. Teaching you how to create content (reviews and guides,) join affiliate networks like Amazon and Walmart, and make money giving your opinion about the things you use every day.

In my case, I write about what I’m doing offline and create tutorials for people just getting started with similar projects.  I provide free resources for them to use and talk about the machinery that I use to get the job done.  I have additional in-depth reviews of the tools I use and links to places where they can purchase these items.

I help people and earn a commission from affiliate sales while I do so.  Not a bad side hustle for something I’m doing anyway.

I have been learning to market products and have learned some valuable skills.

Using WordPress and a highly customizable theme, I can create a site in a short time to market products or a small or medium-sized business.  I have learned what the search engines need to rank a site at the top of their results (SERP- Search Engine Result Page).  I have learned how to create my own products and most importantly, use the skills I have learned to help people.

These are marketable skills that would cost thousands of dollars if you were to get them through a College or University. The training is up to date and immediately applicable to today’s market.  Colleges often teach what was done in the past but rarely will have current actionable training.
